6 Reasons to Attend Conferences and Events

“Sports Tank Venue”

With TPG Sports Group’s inaugural event, Sports Tank, only nine weeks away, it’s time to shed some light on the venue. Sports Tank will be held at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte, NC on March 26th. The Comedy Zone is part of the NC Music Factory and you can find more information about the venue–as well as directions and a virtual tour–at http://www.cltcomedyzone.com/about-the-charlotte-comedy-zone/.

The Comedy Zone is a full service facility that provides plenty of seating and a state-of-the-art sound system. It is a perfect venue to host Sports Tank’s 15 startups, 10 investors, Sports Executive Panel, media and the general public. The location of The Comedy Zone is also extremely important, as it is located in the popular NC Music Factory. Besides being home to The Comedy Zone, the NC Music Factory also consists of two concert venues in the Fillmore Charlotte and Uptown Amphitheatre, the popular Fountain Plaza and a plethora of bars and restaurants. Tickets to watch Sports Tank can be purchased at http://tpgsportsgroup.com/sportstank/#tick for only $10 before February 26th and $20 after that.

This is an exciting time for the city of Charlotte as cutting-edge sports startups and interested investors from around the world will be gathering at The Comedy Zone on March 26th to partake in Sports Tank. Applications to present your business at Sports Tank are still being accepted through February 11th and can be found at http://tpgsportsgroup.com/sportstankapp/. TPG will then narrow down the startups to the final 15 that are best suited to present at Sports Tank.

Investment capital for sports startups is on the rise and venture capitalists are constantly looking for the next big idea. Sports Tank provides a platform for entrepreneurs to obtain the exposure, connections and/or funding that they have been looking for. In such a competitive industry, it is always smart to differentiate your business from the field. One way to do this is by creating a unique pitch that grabs the investor’s attention or having a prepared elevator pitch. “Sports Tank” Update

Sports Tank–the new event from TPG Sports Group–officially launched in December and the applications from sports startups are already rolling in. Sports Tank is an innovative event that is taking place on March 26, 2015 in Charlotte, NC. Sports Tank will consist of startups pitching their products or ideas to a panel of reputable investors for a chance at striking a deal.

What makes Sports Tank so innovative, however, is that it will consist solely of sports startups and will also feature a special Sports Advisory Board. This means that on top of the panel of ten investors that the 15 startups will pitch to, there will also be a panel of five sports executives watching the presentations. This special panel will be on hand to answer any questions that the companies have and offer advice to them as well. The investors, startups and sports executives will have free reign to get creative with their deals, so smart investors might include these executives in some of their deals as well. This innovative concept adds an entertaining twist to an already exciting event and will surely be beneficial to many of the sports startups.

Beside the investors and sports executives, there will be media on hand to cover the event as well. This will create an added outlet for each startup to gain more publicity moving forward.

This unique experience could drastically help the final 15 startups chosen to attend and will be a must-see event. March 26th is going to be a special night and Sports Tank will set the standard for future events.

Feast Week

Fred Hoiberg’s Iowa State Cyclones find themselves ranked #17 in country after starting the 2013-2014 campaign 5-0. A team that was lacking experience coming into the year, was able to secure two big non-conference wins last week. First, defeating the #7 ranked Michigan Wolverines at home, and then going on the road to defeat BYU in Provo, UT.

This should not come as a surprise, especially for those that heard Coach Hoiberg speak at the 2013 Masters in Coaching Clinic. Hoiberg emphasized the importance of court spacing and identifying mismatches. Two things he learned from his time as a player and front office executive in the NBA.

It’s Feast Week and the college basketball schedule is packed with early season tournament games. Enjoy the games, safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving!
